AI assistants are good at answering questions and bad at knowing what's on a store shelf right now. You can fix that for Pokémon TCG in about two minutes. Connect the assistant to bujusjujus restock data, and it can answer from the same alerts our app subscribers get.
TL;DR: get a free key, add one MCP server to Claude (or Cursor, or VS Code), and ask. The free key covers everything in the first half of this post.
What you can ask
Once it's connected, the assistant can use these on your behalf:
- "What Pokémon products restocked in the last day?" It reads recent restock alerts across Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, Pokémon Center and more, with prices and links.
- "What's the MSRP of a Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box? Is $65 fair?" It looks up the retail price, which is the fastest way to spot a reseller markup.
- "Which retailers restocked Pokémon most this month?" It pulls restock activity by retailer.
- "Is anything in stock right now at retail?" and "Tell me the moment a 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection drops." These two need a Live key, because a five-minute-old alert is too late for drops that can sell out in about a minute.
Every alert carries a confidence flag, and the API asks assistants to say when something is an unverified report rather than a confirmed sighting.
Step 1: get a key
Go to bujusjujus.com/api-access, enter your email and open the link we send. In your console, take a free Reference key. It looks like bjs_ followed by 43 characters and is shown once, so keep it somewhere safe.
Step 2: connect your assistant
The server address is https://bujusjuj.us/mcp, and every request sends your key as Authorization: Bearer bjs_.... Here's where that goes in each app.
Claude Code
export BUJUS_API_KEY=bjs_YOUR_KEY
claude mcp add --transport http bujusjujus https://bujusjuj.us/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $BUJUS_API_KEY"
Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop's config file runs local servers, so the remote one is bridged with mcp-remote (it needs Node.js). Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config and add:
{
"mcpServers": {
"bujusjujus": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://bujusjuj.us/mcp",
"--header", "Authorization:${BUJUS_AUTH}"],
"env": { "BUJUS_AUTH": "Bearer bjs_YOUR_KEY" }
}
}
}
Restart Claude Desktop after saving.
Cursor and VS Code
Cursor reads ~/.cursor/mcp.json; VS Code reads .vscode/mcp.json. The setup guide has the exact file for each, including a VS Code version that prompts for the key instead of storing it in the file.
Step 3: ask
Start with "What Pokémon products restocked in the last day?". It works on the free key and shows the connection is live. If the assistant says a tool needs a higher tier, you've asked for a Live feature on a free key.
A note on "nothing's in stock"
That's usually the truthful answer. Retailers restock in short bursts at their own hours, and popular products are often gone within minutes. In our July timing data, almost every Target restock landed between 3 and 5 a.m. Eastern, and Walmart.com clusters on Wednesday nights. Asking "what's in stock?" at lunchtime will usually come back empty. So the useful questions are "what restocked recently?" (free) and "tell me when it drops" (Live). Or install the bujusjujus app and let the alert find you.
What the assistant won't do
It won't buy anything. The data is information, and our terms rule out automated purchasing. When something you want drops, the alert gives you the retailer link and you check out yourself.
Building something bigger?
The same API powers apps, Discord bots and card-shop tools, with long-polling and signed webhooks for server-side use. The API page explains who it's for and documents every tool.
