Where & When to Buy Pokémon Mega Evolution: Pitch Black
Mega Evolution: Pitch Black is the next main Pokémon TCG expansion in the Mega Evolution era, with a street date of July 17, 2026. If you've watched the last few sets sell out in minutes and then sit on the secondary market at double retail, the move this time is to be set up before it drops — know exactly what you want, what it should cost, and which retailers to watch.
This guide is the short version of everything we track on Pitch Black: the full product lineup with manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP), where each product shows up, and what the timing usually looks like.
TL;DR:
- Release date: July 17, 2026. Preorders roll out at major retailers in the weeks before, and they don't all open at once.
- Buy at MSRP if you can. A standard Elite Trainer Box is $49.99; a 36-pack booster box is $143.64 at regular retail. Anything far above that is markup, not MSRP.
- The hardest products to get are the booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes — they sell out first and get scalped hardest.
- The retailers worth watching: Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Pokémon Center, and Amazon. Each lists a slightly different slice of the lineup.
What's in the Pitch Black lineup (and what it should cost)
These are the standard sealed products and their MSRPs. Prices below are the regular retail tier (Best Buy / Target / Walmart); Pokémon Center prices its own booster box higher, noted separately.
| Product | MSRP | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Elite Trainer Box (ETB) | $49.99 | The flagship sealed product — boosters plus accessories. First to sell out. |
| Booster Bundle | $26.94 | A multi-pack bundle. Good MSRP entry point. |
| Booster Box (36 packs) | $143.64 | Regular retail tier ($3.99/pack × 36). The serious-collector pickup. |
| 3-Pack Blister | $14.99 | Three packs plus a promo. Widely stocked, easiest to grab at retail. |
| Sleeved Booster | $5.99 | Single pack. The cheapest way in. |
| Booster Box — Pokémon Center | $179.99 | Pokémon Center's own box tier runs higher than mass retail. |
If you see a "Pitch Black booster box" listed at $250+ or an ETB at $80+, that's a reseller or a marketplace listing, not retail. For the full category-by-category breakdown of what fair retail looks like across every Pokémon TCG product type, see our Pokémon TCG MSRP reference.
Where to buy Pitch Black
We monitor Pitch Black across five retailers. Each one lists a slightly different slice of the lineup, so it's worth watching more than one:
- Best Buy — the widest standard-retail spread: ETB, booster box, booster bundle, 3-pack, and sleeved single. Often one of the first to put up preorders.
- Target — ETB, booster box, booster bundle, and 3-pack blister. Target restocks tend to favor early-morning windows around a release.
- Walmart — ETB, booster display box, booster bundle, and 3-pack blister. Walmart's online drops and in-store stocking run on their own schedule (more on that in when does Walmart restock).
- Pokémon Center — ETB, booster box, and booster bundle direct from the source. Pokémon Center uses an online waiting line and drops fast — see when does Pokémon Center restock.
- Amazon — ETB and booster bundle. Amazon isn't a scheduled-drop retailer; listings come and go as the buy box rotates, and the price can swing above MSRP, so check it against the table above before you buy.
When will Pitch Black actually drop?
Two different timing questions, two different answers:
Preorders open in the weeks leading up to July 17, and they don't all go live at the same moment — one retailer can post a preorder days before another. That staggering is exactly why a single restock alert across all of them beats refreshing one store's page.
Release-day and restock timing follows the same pattern as every other set we track. In our 8-day restock-timing study, the front of the week (Monday and Tuesday) produced most drops, concentrated in two windows: late morning (around 11am ET) and evening (6–11pm ET). Weekends were nearly dead. None of that is guaranteed for any one product, but if you're choosing when to pay attention around July 17, weekday mornings are the highest-odds bet.
How to actually get one at retail
The honest truth: for the hardest products — the booster box and the ETB — being fast matters less than being early, and being early means knowing the instant a listing goes live. You can't out-refresh a drop that opens at a random hour on a random weekday.
That's the entire point of bujusjujus. We watch Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Pokémon Center, and Amazon for Pitch Black and push a notification straight to your phone the moment a product is buyable — with a link right to the listing. No guessing the preorder time, no sitting on five tabs.
