bujusjujus vs NowInStock

NowInStock is one of the oldest general-purpose stock notifiers, going back to PS3 and Wii launch days. It delivers via email and SMS across many product categories. bujusjujus delivers via OS push, is Pokemon-TCG-specific, and filters out marketplace / reseller listings. Comparison below.

The email/SMS latency problem

For most stock alerts, the difference between push and email is minor. For Pokemon TCG specifically, it's the difference between landing the product and missing it.

A Walmart Booster Box drop sells through its allocation in under a minute. Your iPhone's mail app syncs by default every 15 minutes on push but degrades to scheduled polling under various conditions (low battery, low data, certain mail providers). Email-based alerts can sit in NowInStock's send queue for 30 seconds — and that's before your phone fetches them.

Push notifications via ntfy bypass the mail pipeline entirely. The alert goes directly through Apple's APNs (or Android's FCM/MQTT) the moment our monitor confirms the stock state. The end-to-end latency is typically 2-8 seconds.

The general-tracker tradeoff (same story as HotStock)

NowInStock's strength is breadth — Pokemon TCG is one of many product lines. It doesn't have Pokemon-specific logic for marketplace filtering, Hot Topic gouge suppression, Amazon buy-box validation, or Walmart queue-page detection. For Pokemon TCG buyers who've been burned by alerting on reseller listings, this is the deal-breaker.

When NowInStock is the right tool

If your alerting needs span Pokemon TCG and multiple non-TCG categories (consoles, GPUs, etc.), the convenience of one notifier across all of them may matter more than the alert-quality gap. NowInStock is also free, which bujusjujus isn't.

If you primarily collect Pokemon TCG and have ever missed a drop by ~30 seconds, the difference between an email and a push is exactly the difference you've been losing on.
